Discouraged

I am wondering if there has been any referrals for little girls in the last few weeks/months. I really need some encouragement. I read the newest newletter from CHI today and am discouraged. It seems CHI's wait time quotes have went from 12 to 18 months when we applied, to up to two years wait time and now I read that new applicants should expect between two and five years wait time for a little girl. I know that adoption is a leap of faith, and ultimately, God is in control, but I am beginning to think his answer to us may be no.

We have discovered we are not a couple who can constantly live life on the edge of the unknown and the wait is wearing us out. Although God can and may move mountains, we have agreed that if we do not have our referral by the time our current home study expires in July, we will problably choose to end our adoption process. This is due to many factors. I have made several different arrangements with relatives and friends for taking care of little David while we are away. And each arrangement requires time and effort to have David bond with the relative or friend, so it won't be so tramatic for him when we leave. Then the circumstance of the relative or friend changes and they are no longer available to care for him. This has happened three times already and will probably happen again, as the current prospective care takers are searching for new employment which may require they move to another state.

David is a commissioned sales person, our income is based on him being available to his customers. Due to holding all his vacation time till the end of 2006, his January sales quota is suffering, he will bounce back very soon. But, it is wearing him out trying to stay ahead of his quota, and keep all his jobs in vacation ready status so he can be ready to leave with just a few days notice.

I am hoping to have good news as we are very weary.

Thanks,

Debbie Metzger
